Jeung Hoon Nam (Enjayeych)

Jeung Hoon Nam (a.k.a Enjayeych or NJH), born in 2000 in Seoul, is a ceramicist and sculptor based in Cypress California. Most notable for his daring ceramic vessels, he adeptly pushes the boundaries of possibility within the medium, employing porcelain and stoneware to create works that are both visually striking and conceptually profound. His sharp imagery distinguishes his practice, drawing viewers in and engaging them with the underlying themes of his art.

Central to Nam’s work is an exploration of defiance and self-defense, predominantly expressed through the “thorn” motif. His pieces often reflect a tension between violence and beauty, good and evil, highlighting the inherent contradictions within himself and his work. Throughout his body of work, he interrogates societal norms and challenges preconceived notions of vulnerability and resilience. This thematic focus not only characterizes his artistic voice but also establishes him as an artist who speaks for a new generation of art born out of defiance and strength.

Through his innovative approach to ceramics, he continues to influence both the medium and the broader artistic community, establishing a dialogue that resonates with a global audience.
